Few business and community leaders have shaped the Mississippi construction industry as much as Roy Anderson, III. Whether for his exemplary business ethics, desire for excellence in the construction industry, innovative foresight or philanthropic community investments, Roy is a valued business leader and ally to many people who have worked with him. Today, Roy is the President and CEO of AnderCorp, the construction company he started with his son, Roy Anderson IV.

Experience & Expertise

Roy is the former President/CEO of Roy Anderson Corp (RAC), and Chairman of Anderson Companies, a holding company  consisting of three construction companies: Roy Anderson Corp (RAC) of Gulfport, MS and Pensacola Florida, Harrell Contracting Group of Jackson, MS, and Brice Building Company of Birmingham, AL, and New Orleans, LA.

During Roy’s 35-year tenure with RAC, he provided executive oversight for over $7 billion in major construction projects consisting of hospitality, gaming, retail, healthcare, prisons, office and mixed use, sports facilities, student dormitories, disaster recovery, and federal. He played an integral role in the growth of RAC and the gaming industry in Mississippi and in other regions in the U.S. in constructing over 3,000,000 square feet of gaming and hospitality facilities. The Anderson Companies were acquired by the Tutor Perini Corporation (NYSE/TPC) in 2011 and Roy remained as the CEO until he resigned in December 2017.

Accolades & Accomplishments

Roy is a graduate of the University of Alabama and the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he served as Vice President of his law class. He is past president of the Associated General Contractors (AGC)–Mississippi Chapter and is a past National AGC Board member. In 2012 he was selected as the Industry Person of the Year by the Associated Builders and Contractors of Mississippi.

Among his professional honors, Roy was selected “Top 40 Under 40” by the Mississippi Business Journal and was named among the “Top 10 Outstanding Community Leaders.” He received the Distinguished Citizen Award given by the Boy Scouts Pine Burr Council and was the 2018 Honoree for the American Heart Gala’s annual fundraising event.

Roy has been a speaker at national gaming and hospitality conferences, the Young President Organization (YPO) construction forum, the Partnering Symposium for the Regional Army Corp of Engineers Convention, and several Associated General Contractors conferences.

Leadership & Service

Roy serves on the Mississippi Aquarium Foundation Board of Directors and the executive committee of the Gulf Coast Business Council. He also served on the Foundation board of directors of Memorial Hospital Gulfport (MHG).

Roy is a charter member and past Chairman of the Gulf Coast Renaissance Corporation, a past board member of Merchants Bank and Trust Company, past advisory board member of Whitney National Bank of Mississippi, past board member of Mississippi Power Company and served two terms as President of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Resort Classic.

He was a former member of the Board of Directors for American Contractors Insurance Group (ACIG) in Dallas, Texas, and is past Vice President and charter trustee of the Mississippi AGC Self-Insured Workers Compensation Fund.

Roy served two terms as President of Westminster Academy. He is a graduate of Leadership Gulf Coast and has been active in several local and statewide charities including the American Heart Association where he was the Gulf Coast Heart Walk Chair (2016).
