Roy Anderson III has exemplified leadership in his profession as he has helped shape the Southeastern construction industry for more than 40 years. He is widely recognized for his business ethics, philanthropic contributions, and commitment to excellence and innovation in the construction industry. A respected industry leader and trusted ally to many, Roy currently serves as Chairman and CEO of AnderCorp, the company he founded with his son, Roy Anderson IV.

Professional Background

Roy previously served as President and CEO of a leading regional construction firm and Chairman of a multi-company construction organization comprised of several operating construction companies across the Southeastern United States. Roy began his career in 1982, working within his family’s construction business and helping grow it into a recognized industry leader throughout Mississippi and the Southeastern United States. Over the course of 35 years, Roy provided executive oversight for more than $7 billion in major construction projects spanning hospitality, gaming, healthcare, prisons, office and mixed-use developments, sports facilities, student dormitories, disaster recovery, and federal work. He played an integral role in the growth of the regional gaming industry, constructing over 3 million square feet in hospitality and gaming facilities. The organization was later acquired by a publicly traded construction company in 2011, and Roy continued serving as CEO until his resignation in December 2017.

Accolades & Accomplishments

Roy is a graduate of the University of Alabama and the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he was elected Vice President of his law class. Throughout his career, he has held numerous leadership roles within the construction industry, including serving as President of the Mississippi Chapter of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) and as a National AGC Board Member. His professional honors include Leadership Gulf Coast graduate; recognition as a Magnolia Tribune Top Business Person; Mississippi Business Journal Mississippi Top 50, Top CEO Awards of Mississippi, and Top 40 Under 40 honoree; the Boy Scouts Pine Burr Council Distinguished Citizen Award; Top 10 Outstanding Community Leaders; and Industry Person of the Year by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Mississippi. Roy is a former equity holder and board member of the American Contractors Insurance Group (ACIG) in Dallas, Texas, Vice President and Charter Trustee of the AGC Self-Insured Workers’ Compensation Fund, and a former member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO). He has been a featured speaker at numerous national gaming, hospitality, and construction industry symposiums, including AGC conferences and the Partnering Symposium for the Regional U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Convention.

Leadership & Service

Roy currently serves on the executive committee of the Gulf Coast Business Council and the board of directors of the Memorial Hospital Gulfport Foundation. His extensive leadership experience includes serving as Chairman of the Gulf Coast Renaissance Corporation and holding board and advisory positions with the Mississippi Aquarium Foundation, Merchants Bank & Trust Company, Whitney National Bank of Mississippi, the American Heart Association, and Mississippi Power Company. Roy also served two terms as President of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Resort Classic, a PGA Champions Tour event, and two terms as President of Westminster Academy. He has remained actively involved in numerous local and statewide charitable organizations, including the American Heart Association, where he served as Gulf Coast Heart Walk Chair in 2016 and was recognized as the organization’s 2018 Gulf Coast Honoree.
