Lead Estimator

Summary

Provide accurate and timely commercial construction cost estimates and have responsibility for the overall planning and estimating effort for multiple projects.

Reports To: Director of Preconstruction

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead team of estimators and manage bidding process for multiple projects
  • Review and evaluate potential projects
  • Prepare project cost estimates based on client’s construction documents or RFP
  • Review construction documents and understand scopes of work
  • Develop qualifications, assumptions, and exclusions
  • Perform detail takeoffs
  • Make bid day assignments
  • Review cost estimates for completeness
  • Develop comprehensive bidders list
  • Coordinate subcontractor and vendor bidding
  • Evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids
  • Prepare cost analysis reports and establish proposed GMPs
  • Work with Operations during preconstruction through construction close-out, as needed, for cost analysis
  • Work directly with clients, architects, and subcontractors to provide Value Engineering solutions
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits, as needed. Overnight travel may be required.
  • Lead constructability reviews with estimating team and with clients
  • Present cost data to clients
  • Facilitate estimating hand-off to Operations

Minimum Requirements:

  • 8 years as lead estimator on commercial construction projects $25 million and larger
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering
  • Successful history of managing CMaR/GMP, Design-Build and hard bid estimates
  • Experience in gaming, hospitality, and retail
  • Ability to lead team efforts with minimal oversight
  • Experience with PlanSwift and EarthWorks estimating software
  • In depth knowledge of MS Office software
